Daily rounds. An intern or resident should see each patient on our service, on the rehabilitation unit, 2EAD, and the active consults daily, and document with a progress note in CPRS. Your progress notes should reflect the plan for treatment and evaluation.

Rounds with a staff physician should also be done on a daily basis. Dr. Ghiassi or Dr. Zeitzew will be available for daily rounds.

Discharge. At the time of discharge from the orthopaedic surgery inpatient service or from the rehabilitation unit, 2EAD, an outpatient orthopaedic surgery clinic appointment should be ordered. The criteria for discharge after joint arthroplasty include meeting goals of therapy. (For example, after knee replacement there should be 90 degrees flexion, and less than 10 degree extensor lag with leg lift against gravity).
